Four youths killed in motor accident at Menikhinna

Four youths have been killed in a motor accident that took place at around 1.35 am this morning (08) at Malpana area in Menikhinna. The cab they had been travelling in has veered off the road and crashed against a pile of concrete bricks on the roadside, according to the police. The four youths including the one who had been driving the vehicle were in a critical condition when they were admitted to the Menikhinna Hospital. However, they have later succumbed to injuries. The deceased youths, aged between 17-19 years, were identified as residents of Trincomalee, Uhana and Mahiyanganaya areas. Menikhinna Police is conducting further investigations into the accident.

One dead, 30 injured in bus accident

One dead and thirty individuals have been injured in a motor accident on Trincomalee-Ambepussa road in Thambalagamuwa, Kantale. Reportedly, the accident had occurred at around 4.45 this morning (06) when a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus and a private bus had collided with each other. The injured persons have been admitted to the Kantale Hospital and the condition of two of the injured are critical, stated the Hospital Police. The conductor of the private bus has been killed in the incident. Thambalagamuwa police are carrying out further investigations on the matter.
