The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today informed the Fort Magistrate Court that the Chief of Defense Staff, former Navy Commander Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne is expected to be interrogated soon after his return to Sri Lanka.
The Criminal Investigations Department revealed this when the case regarding the abduction and disappearance of 11 youth was called before the Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.
The CID told the court that the former Navy Commander has gone to Mexico to represent Sri Lanka and added that after his return to Sri Lanka he would be summoned to the CID for questioning.
Admiral Wijegunaratne is alleged of helping former Navy Lieutenant Commander Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi, alias Navy Sampath, who is the main suspect in the abduction and murder of 11 youths in 2008-2009, to abscond.
Meanwhile, the court extended the remand of the main suspect Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi until the 26th of this month.
