The Criminal Investigation Department conducting investigations into the killing of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge has submitted a detailed report with new information on the murder to the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
When the case was taken up for hearing today, Mt. Lavinia Magistrate’s Court further remanded the two suspects, former senior DIG Prasanna Nanayakkara and former Mount Lavinia Police Crimes OIC, SI Tissa Sugathapala who were arrested over concealing evidence in killing of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge until the 25th of this month.
When the case was taken up today, Anura Meddagoda, President’s Counsel, appeared on behalf of former DIG Prasanna Nanayakkara said his client was sick and he could not be present.
The defense also submitted a further report to the court yesterday.
