The Public Health Inspectors Union of Sri Lanka has warned there is a high risk of CV-19 spreading through the continuous operation institutions in areas under isolation.
“By allowing private and government offices in areas currently under isolation to function, we see the detection of Covid-19 patients from these institutions. It’s becoming evident that these areas are under threat due to the operation of these institutions,” President of the Union Upul Rohana said.
The spread of the virus is out of control especially within some areas in Colombo Municipal Council, Rohana added. He raised concerns over the measures taken within Colombo Port.
“There is a serious concern over the measures taken within Ports operations and if they are adhering to health guidelines. Strict attention should be focused on whether the functioning institutions within the isolated areas are following health guidelines,” he said.
The spread of the virus and the death toll continues to increase within the Colombo Municipal Council city limit, the PHI union stated.
