Finance Ministry stresses that the normal petrol and diesel prices do not increase under the revision of the price

The Ministry of Finance stressed that no changes have been made to Octane 92 Petrol and Auto Diesel under the fuel price formula on price review.

Accordingly Octane 92 Petrol liter for rupees 145 and Auto Diesel liter for 118 will be sold further.

However, the price of 95 Octane petrol has been increased from Rs. 155 to Rs. 157 per liter and a Super Diesel has been priced at Rs 130 per liter.

The fuel price is reviewed on the 10th day of every month under the fuel price formula.

Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera is addressing the media in the Ministry of Finance and Mass Media today that this decision will be effective from midnight today.

The Minister expressing his views further in accordance with the advices of the President, said a special commission will be appointed to report on the salary increase of all staff of the public sector.

He stated that a proposal would be submitted next week to the Cabinet of Ministers for the required approval for this purpose.

Speaking on the train strike, Minister Samaraweera said that a special program has been launched to provide relief to commuters affected by train strikes. He has requested from private bus owners who like to transport passengers with railway tickets, to be registered in the National Transport Commission. Such private bus owners who provide those facilities to the commuters can get the amount reimbursed from the Ministry of Finance and Mass media.
