The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) says that tests have been completed on the samples which were obtained from the petrol shipment brought to the country in the fuel tanker ‘Neveska Lady’.
Approval for pumping has been received after the lab tests, the CPC said.
It said that the pumping of fuel from the tanker to the storage facility in Muthurajawela has commenced while the distribution of the petrol will begin tonight.
The fuel tanker, which is carrying 40,000 metric tonnes of petrol, docked at the Muthurajawela buoy this morning after which authorities commenced sample testing.
Neveska Lady left Dubai with 31,000 metric tonnes of 90 octane petrol and 7,000 metric tonnes of 95 octane petrol.
