Manjula de Silva has been appointed as the Chief Executive and Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, a statement said.
The veteran accountant will succeed Dhara Wijayatilake, who is retiring, on February 01, a statement from the chamber said.
De Silva currently serves as a director of the brush maker BPPL Holdings Plc and the John Keells Group subsidiary Tea Smallholder Factories Plc.
He has previously served as the chairperson of the National Insurance Trust Fund, a member of the Securities and Exchange Commission, managing director and chief executive of HNB Assurance, and director general of the Public Enterprise Reform Commission.
He is also a former Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and was in the Regional Board for the Middle East, South Asia and North Africa region.
A past president of both the Insurance Association of Sri Lanka and the Unit Trust Association of Sri Lanka, de Silva has been working with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce since 1996.
He has served in the chamber committee and as the Chairman of the steering committee on insurance.
De Silva is currently serving as a member of the chamber’s Economic Policy Steering Committee as well as the National Agenda Committee on Public Sector Reforms.
