Minister to meet 32 trade unions as CEB hunger strike enters fourth day

A discussion between thirty-two trade unions of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, is scheduled to be held this morning.

The discussion is regarding the hunger strike launched by CEB trade unions.

Secretary to the Ministry, Sulakshana Jayawardena, said a number of other officials of the Ministry are also due to attend the meeting.

The hunger strike was launched based on issues including the increase in salaries of senior employees only, and the slashing of certain privileges.

The hunger strike staged opposite the CEB enters its fourth day, today.

Convener of the Joint trade unions of the CEB, Ranjan Jayalal, said they will continue the hunger strike until their demands are met.
