Police crack whip on those without masks

The police has warned that people who do not wear masks would be subjected to self-quarantine, amidst warnings that coronavirus cases can spike in the country.

“We have informed all police stations to look into this matter and ensure everyone wears a face mask and adheres to quarantine regulations,” Deshabandu Tennakoon, the Senior DIG of the Western Province said.

He said the police would carry out special operations from Sunday, and would impose a 14-day self quarantine period for those who do not wear a mask.

“We urge the general public, do not violate the health rules and regulations,” Tennakoon noted.

The police said that there is no need to wear face masks while travelling alone in cars and motorcycles, and that they must be worn when entering public places.
