The Speaker of Sri Lanka parliament Karu Jayasuriya assured that parliament’s responsibility on behalf of the people will be fulfilled ensuring transparency regarding the reports of the presidential commissions that were handed over to the parliament on Wednesday.
The President’s Office handed over the final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) into the Bond Issuance of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Inquire and Investigate into Serious Acts of Fraud and Corruption (PRECIFAC) to the Secretary-General of Parliament this morning.
Speaking at a special press briefing today, the Speaker said the next step on the reports will be discussed at the party leaders meeting on the 22nd of this morning and added that he expects to translate and print the copies of the two reports quickly and make them available for all members of parliament.
The speaker noted his gratitude to the President Maithripala Sirisena for delivering the reports today as he promised.
Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala, Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dassanayake, Deputy Chief Secretary of the Parliament Staff Neil Iddawela were also present at the briefing.
