Sri Lanka Navy arrests 10 Indian fishermen for poaching in Sri Lankan waters

Sri Lanka Navy said it has arrested 10 Indian fishermen and seized their fishing trawler last night for allegedly crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and fishing in Sri Lankan waters.

A Fast Attack Craft attached to the Northern Naval Command, on routine patrol, apprehended the 10 Indian fishermen along with the fishing trawler for poaching in the Sri Lankan territorial waters north of Point Pedro Lighthouse on Wednesday night (15th November).

The apprehended fishermen, trawler and fishing gear have been brought to the naval base SLNS Uttara in Kankasanthurai and handed over to the Assistant Fisheries Director of Jaffna for onward legal action.
