While being escorted by the Police for an operation in Veyandgoda, an individual was killed by Police gunfire.
The body of the deceased has been placed at the Wathupitiwala hospital, a post mortem will be conducted on court orders.
The 37-year-old deceased was arrested on charges for attempted murder by the Western Province Crimes Division, Police Media Spokesperson, DIG Ajith Rohana said.
A special team has been appointed to probe the incident, whereas the Police will present facts on the incident to the Attanagalle Magistrate’s Court today.
