Private fuel bowser owners in Sri Lanka threaten strike action demanding increase in fees

Private bowser owners in Sri Lanka who transport fuel for the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) have threatened union action demanding an increase in their fees after the government increased fuel prices. The Ceylon Petroleum Private Bowser Owners' Association has threatened to suspend the transportation of fuel if their demand is not met. Secretary of the Association, Shantha Silva has said the increase in the fee paid to the bowser owners had been requested following the increase in fuel prices. Silva said the strike will be launched from Friday if they do not get a solution to their request. A majority of the CPC fuel is being transported by the private bowsers.
