Authorities say 650 additional buses added to the service

The Ceylon Transport Board says that more than 650 additional buses have been added to the service today due to the ongoing train strike. The Deputy General Manager Mr. R.R.T Chandrasiri said buses have been deployed  to all the areas from Colombo. Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Executive said that steps have been taken to cancel the leave of the Technical Officers until the strike is called off. He said that special teams have also been deployed to carry out repair work on buses.

Northern Province CTB bus drivers commence strike

Bus drivers attached to the Ceylon Transport Board (CTB) in the Northern Province, began a strike action this morning. The strike action was launched demanding that two officers of the CTB be transferred. Secretary of the Joint Workers Union, R. Chamadevan said, the strike action aims at ‘resolving these issues,’ When inquiries were made on the matter from the Chairman of CTB, he stated that the employees had launched the strike action without any prior notice.
