President takes part in Oil Anointing Ceremony in London
Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena who is in London to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2018 took part in the Sinhala and Hindu New Year Oil Anointing Ceremony held at the London Buddhist Vihara on Monday (16).
Ven Bogoda Seelawimala Nayaka Thera, the Chief Incumbent of the London Buddhist Vihara and the current Chief Sangha Nayaka of Great Britain anointed oil on the head of the President and others.
Later, the President engaged in religious observances at the temple.
A group of Sri Lankans living in London also gathered at the temple and President Sirisena engaged in cordial discussions with them and extended his best wishes for the New Year.
The Sri Lankan delegation including Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva participated in the event.
