Postal trade unions warn of trade union action again

The United Postal Trade Unions' Front warns that they will relaunch the trade union action if postal employees are not paid their salary for the month of June. The Co-Convener of the United Postal Trade Unions' Front Chinthaka Bandara said that if the postal workers were not given their salaries due for June by tomorrow, they will commence a strike again. Bandara said a cabinet paper is to be submitted to not to pay salaries for six days to the employees who were engaged in the strike last month. Postal authorities have been informed on this in writing, Bandara further stated. The postal trade unions suspended their 16 day-long strike from midnight on June 26th. Striking postal employees to launch indefinite fast from today

The Joint Postal Trade Unions Front says they will launch an indefinite fast today opposite the Central Mail Exchange in Colombo. Co-convener of the trade union front Chinthaka Bandara told local media that they will launch an indefinite fast since the government has not given a satisfactory response to their demands yet. Post Master General Rohana Abeyratne has urged all the striking postal employees to end the trade union action and come for discussions to find a solution to their demands. Sri Lanka postal strike continues indefinitely as no solution has been given 

The Joint Postal Trade Unions Front says the strike action launched by them in protest against the recruitment process will continue since the authorities have not been able to provide a proper solution to their demands. Co-convener of the trade union front Chinthaka Bandara said that the strike would be continue indefinitely. Meanwhile, Postal and Telecommunication Officers' Association has also joined the strike since Tuesday midnight. Its General Secretary H.K. Kariyawasam said that they will be engaged in the strike action until the scheme of recruitment is put in order.
