Three students hospitalised after Jaffna University clash

Three individuals were injured in a clash that erupted between two groups of students at the Jaffna University. According to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ratnam Vigneswaran, the clash had erupted between a group of third and fourth year arts students. As a result of the clash the third year and fourth year classes of the arts faculty have been temporarily suspended, and orders have been issued preventing the 3rd year and 4th year students of this faculty from entering the university. Three students who sustained injuries have been hospitalized.

Vavuniya Campus of Jaffna University closed indefinitely

The Vavuniya Campus of the Jaffna University has been closed indefinitely from yesterday evening, the University administration has announced. The administration has taken the decision to close the campus due to the escalation of a clash between two groups of students that had taken place few days ago. It has been reported that a group of Sinhala students have complained to the university administration that a group of resident Tamil students have celebrated birth anniversary of the Tamil Tiger terrorist leader Velupillai Prabhakaran on the 26th of this month. Polpithigama wedding reception clash claims a life

A woman was killed when a clash occured during a wedding reception in Madahapolayaya, Polpithigama on Wednesday, November 15. According to the police, the clash broke out last evening when an argument had escalated, leaving four others injured. The victim was a 48-year-old resident of Pothuwila, Polpithigama. Police further stated that the individual who instigated the argument was also among the injured and is currently receiving treatment at the Polpithigama Hospital under police protection. Two of the injured have been transferred to Kurunegala Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
