SriLankan plane carrying 228 passengers hits runway light at Cochin airport during rain
A SriLankan Airlines plane carrying 228 passengers has hit a ground light at an Indian airport during landing in rainy weather yesterday.
The national carrier said SriLankan Airlines UL flight 167 en route from Colombo to Cochin landed at Cochin International Airport at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday (27th May) during an intense rain shower caused by the onset of the Monsoon.
Due to the ambient conditions, strong winds and heavy rain, the aircraft veered toward the runway edge and caused damage to some ground lights, the airline said in a media release.
The flight landed has landed safely with no injuries to passengers or crew. The flight was carrying a total 228 passengers and 12 crew members.
