Korea robs Sri Lanka of Gold
The Sri Lankan Wheelchair brigade set out for gold in the third and final week of the ITF Futures Series, Colombo leg, but failed after coming ever so close. The tournament took place over a course of 5 days at the SSC Tennis Courts.
Gamini Dissanayake coming hot off a victory in the men’s single from week 2, looked to close out a successful term with a win here. Unfortunately, his week 2 victim Ha-Gel Lee was determined not to go down twice consecutively without a fight. Ha-Gel made the difference in week 3 closing out the final match against Dissanayake in a 7/6 (4), 6/2 victory. R. Ranaweera was the only other Lankan to make it to the quarter-final stage only to have to bow down to the champ in a tight three setter 4/6,6/1,7/5.
