Korea robs Sri Lanka of Gold

The Sri Lankan Wheelchair brigade set out for gold in the third and final week of the ITF Futures Series, Colombo leg, but failed after coming ever so close. The tournament took place over a course of 5 days at the SSC Tennis Courts. Gamini Dissanayake coming hot off a victory in the men’s single from week 2, looked to close out a successful term with a win here. Unfortunately, his week 2 victim Ha-Gel Lee was determined not to go down twice consecutively without a fight. Ha-Gel made the difference in week 3 closing out the final match against Dissanayake in a 7/6 (4), 6/2 victory. R. Double gold for Sri Lanka Wheelchair Tennis

The Sri Lankan entourage would not let victory go to the foreign ranked players, as three men took home gold, in the second week of the ITF Futures Open Wheelchair Tournament 2018, Colombo Leg. The second week fixtures were worked off at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association over 5 days of sizzling tennis.  Gamini Dissanayake got his fair share this time around, making a brilliant come back from 2016 to claim the Men’s title, while the blazing doubles duo Ranaweera and Dharmasena left no surprises for the fans, taking home the doubles title. Dissanayake had major titles back in 2016 when he was crowned Sri Lanka’s National Champion, as well as the Malaysian Open Champion.
