Water released to Kaudulla Reservoir for Yala cultivations in Polonnaruwa

The inaugural water to Kaudulla Reservoir from the Moragahakanda Reservoir for the 2018 Yala season cultivations in Polonnaruwa district was released Saturday. With the construction of the Moragahakanda Reservoir which is the final project of the Mahaweli Scheme, it has become possible to meet the water shortage for cultivations in several areas including the Polonnaruwa District. Irrigation Engineers say that water can be supplied without any problems to Rajarata from the Moragahakanda Reservoir during the Yala Season.
