Sri Lankan President invited for the International Solar Summit in New Delhi

India has invited Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena to attend the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Founding Conference and Solar Summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi on 11 March 2018. An invitation to grace the Conference, jointly signed by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and President of France Emmanuel Macron, was handed over today to President Sirisena jointly by High Commissioner of India Taranjit Singh Sandhu and Ambassador of France Jean-Marin Schuh. Around 500 delegates from all over the world are expected to participate in the Conference including around 30 Heads of State/ Government. Sri Lanka apparel exports rise after reinstatement of EU GSP+

European Union's tariff concession Generalized System of Preferences plus (GSP+) has delivered its most prominent success for Sri Lankan exports to-date since its reinstatement, Minister of Industries and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen says. "As a result of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's efforts on GSP Plus, our apparel exports from January to September this year has increased by 11.3% to US $ 1.67 Billion," said the Minister on Wednesday in Colombo.
