UDV candidate leaves party questioning Ranjan & Dilshan’s candidacies

UDV candidate leaves party questioning Ranjan & Dilshan’s candidacies

  1. A Colombo District candidate of the United Democratic Voice (UDV) party headed by actor-turned-politician Ranjan Ramanayake has announced his decision to leave the party, citing various reasons.

Addressing the media today, Prasanna Adikari who was set to contest from the UDV questioned the legitimacy of the party and its ownership.

“Questions have arisen on the ownership of the party. Especially, links between British- Sri Lankan entrepreneur Subaskaran Allirajah from Lycamobile and the party,” he said.

The candidate also revealed another issue was the fact that the leader without civic rights was contesting from the Gampaha District and another candidate with dual citizenship was contesting from the Kalutara District.

“The public thinks they must vote for these two candidates. We know what happened to Diana Gamage in Parliament. She was removed from Parliament. Similarly, when these two candidates enter Parliament, it will become a legal issue,” he pointed out.

The candidate explained that despite the public voting for Ranjan Ramanayake in the Gampaha District and for T.M. Dilshan in the Kalutara District, if they are removed from Parliament then the next in line from the party’s district will replace them in Parliament.

“Therefore, Ranjan Ramanayake and T.M. Dilshan will not be elected to Parliament as you hoped. This is an issue. Is this a game or a mission for someone else? Is it an international conspiracy? These questions must be answered,” he added. (Newswire)
