The Ampara Special Task Force (STF) arrested 05 persons in transporting heroin near the Hada Oya Bridge in Siyambalanduwa.
A woman who traveled with the group and the driver of the vehicle has been arrested for aiding and abetting a heroin racket, while 151 grams of heroin were found in possession of 03 suspects during an inspection.
The suspects have been identified as residents of Pottuvil and are expected to be produced before the Siyambalnduwa Magistrate today (06).
The raid was carried out based on information received that drugs were being transported from Colombo to Ampara in the van, while the stash of heroin recovered is valued at approximately Rs. 03 million.
