Former MP Bathiudeen’s brother-in-law granted bail over alleged sexual abuse case

The brother-in-law of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen who was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a domestic worker in 2016 has been granted bail.

The incident is reported to have taken place when the woman was employed at the former MP’s residence in Colombo in 2016.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala ordered the suspect to be released on a surety of Rs.500,000.

The court ordered a travel ban in the suspect while his passport was impounded.
