PNB intercepts over 15 million Tramadol pills en route to Libya

The Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) has detected a container at the Colombo Harbor containing high-dose Tramadol pills. Police have found 585 boxes of 225g Tramadol pills holding over 15 million tablets, stated the Media Spokesperson. The value of the pills has not yet been estimated, according to the police. This container has been en route to Libya from India, preliminary investigations revealed. The container is currently under the custody of Sri Lanka Customs and no suspects have been arrested regarding the discovery. The PNB is conducting further investigations on the matter.

JUST IN: More than 900 kilos of Cocaine went up in flames

A stock of more than nine hundred kilos of Cocaine, taken into custody by the Police Narcotics Bureau is destroyed today (Jan 15) at the Katunayake Investment Zone under the supervision of the Fort Magistrate. President Mathripala Sirisena will be present at the event together with Law and Order and Southern Development Minister Sagala Ratnayake and others. The liquid cocaine taken into custody will be destroyed in Puttalam today (January 15). Police stated that steps have been taken to liquidize the stock of Cocaine. The liquefied Cocaine will then discarded. The Police Narcotics Bureau nabbed a container at the Colombo harbor on the 9th of December 2016. JUST IN: Two killed in Dewundara sea collision

Two people have died following a collision between a container and a multi-day fishing trawler off the Dewundara seas. One person is still unaccounted for. According to Navy media spokesperson Commander Dinesh Bandara, the collision occurred 13 nautical miles off the Dewundara coast. He further noted that a search operation is currently underway for the missing person. Two Dora vessels have been dispatched. The navy media spokesperson further added that the said container vessel which set sail from Chennai was on its way to the Hambantota port after its arrival at the Colombo Harbor.

Fertilizer stock arrives from Pakistan, shortage ends

Sri Lanka has received the stock of 40,000 metric tons of fertilizer from Pakistan, and the fertilizer shortage prevailed in the country will end from today, the co-cabinet spokesman, Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said.
