Sri Lankan President pledges not to divide the country
Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena stressed that although allegations leveled against him that he is attempting to divide the country, under any circumstances he would not allow anyone to divide the country.
Addressing a public rally held in Sevanapitiya, Polonnaruwa, on Thursday, the President further said that today, the people of the country will not become victims of false propaganda and opportunistic political tactics.
President Sirisena said that today the country needs a system of government in which people have to play a pivotal role, instead of a dictatorship and further said that during the past three years he was committed to bring that essential political as well as social transformation into the country.
