Bribery Commission files petition requesting Supreme Court to suspend stay order against case on former Chief Justice
The Commissioners of the Bribery Commission have petitioned the Supreme Court to suspend a stay order issued by the apex court preventing the proceedings of a case filed against the former Chief Justice Mohan Peiris in the Colombo Magistrate's Court.
The petition was filed by the three commissioners of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption including its Chairman, retired Supreme Court Judge T.B. Weerasuriya.
The Commissioners in their petition pointed out that the Supreme Court has issued an injunction preventing a case filed under the Bribery Act against the former Chief Justice Mohan Peiris at the Colombo Magistrate's Court.
