The Office on Missing Persons (OMP) issuing a statement clarified that media reports that it could provide the names of surrendees or the disappeared if a request is made are not accurate and the OMP does not have any lists of surrendees or the disappeared. Rs. 318 million for development of Mullaitivu

Mullaitivu District Government Agent Rupawthi Ketheeswaran has said that the district has received Rs. 68 million as an initial step to initiate 156 development projects in the district. The officials said 65 percent of the projects are agricultural projects while 18 percent of the remaining are fisheries projects and all these projects will receive Rs. 318 million. The progress of these projects is to be received in four stages this year, the Government Agent said. Out of the total funding, Rs. 162 million will be received from the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Resettlement while the other monies will be received from the respective ministries. Sri Lanka Police have arrested 31 persons who were attempting to illegally sail to Australia and New Zealand in fishing boats. Arachchikattuwa Police acting on information received have arrested the 31 would be asylum seekers in the Nagula Eliya area in Arachchikattuwa. The police say the group was waiting to board the boats to migrate to Australia and New Zealand through the sea routes. The suspected asylum seekers are residents of Udappuwa, Mullaitivu and Jaffna.
