Conservation of wetlands is a social responsibility – Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka

Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka says the conservation of the wetlands is a timely social responsibility. The contribution made by wetlands to regulate urban temperature minimizing urban air pollution and to store excess water restoring the environmental balance is immense, the Minister pointed out. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa seeks court assistance to prevent action being taken against him

The petition filed at the Court of Appeal, seeking an order to prevent action being taken against Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, under the Public Property Act, was taken up for consideration yesterday, November 28. According to the petition, he had presented facts to court under the Public Property Act, charging that public funds had been misappropriated for the construction of the D.A. Rajapaksa Memorial Museum. The museum had been constructed as per an agreement reached between the D.A. Rajapaksa Foundation and the Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation.
