Sri Lanka PM emphasizes the need to change country’s education system to comply with global standards
Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the country's education system should be transformed to comply with latest trends in global education.
Speaking at the Catholic Teacher Day 2017 Commemoration Ceremony held at the Auditorium of St. Joseph's College in Maradana, the Prime Minister said that in 1961 the government decided to acquire the schools to the state. The Buddhists handed over all the schools to the government except the Museaus College.
He noted that some schools were kept under the Catholic Council. He said he was able to streamline the schools that were acquired by the government to the caliber of the Ministry of Education in the past. The Premier pointed out that he spent two years to streamline those schools.
