A code of ethics for web journalists to create a more responsible and ethical web journalism, was presented to President Maithripala Sirisena, during a ceremony held in Colombo yesterday (29). The event was organized by the Professional Web Journalists' Association. The President, expressing his views said that the launch of code of ethics for web journalists is a great effort for the development of this field. Maithripala Sirisena has given instructions to appoint a special committee to look into the professional issues of the regional news correspondents of media institutions and to submit recommendations regarding the solutions for those issues. This committee will be comprised of Director General of the Government Information Department, an Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and Commissioner General of Labor.
