The Cabinet of Ministers gives the green light to lease the 42 acres of land of the Welikada Prison complex on a long-term lease for an Urban Development Project.
The proposal was submitted by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa together with Justice Minister Ali Sabry.
The land will be leased out to selected local and foreign investors.
