Sri Lanka national television Rupavahini Corporation’s new Tamil channel Nethra, aimed at fostering national unity and reconciliation, was declared open by President Maithripala Sirisena today at the Rupavahini Complex in Colombo.
This new channel has been established to assist the government in its efforts to build national reconciliation in the country. The channel will broadcast full-time for the national, religious and cultural identity of the Tamil speaking people.

Ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Mano Ganesan, State Minister AHM Fowzie, Deputy Minister Karunaratne Paranavithana, Parliamentarian MA Sumanthiran, Angajan Ramanathan and Cader Mustapha and ambassadors, representatives of International Organizations and government officials, the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, Ravi Jayawardena, Director General, Thushiri Malaweveewanthi and Working Director Amal Gajamanage were present at the occasion.
