TNA won’t take impulsive political decisions – Sumanthiran

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) will not take impulsive political decisions under any circumstances, as desired by certain parties or people, says TNA Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran.

He mentioned this in response to the queries regarding the meeting held between the Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

He states that the TNA Leader had met with PM Mahinda Rajapaksa, considering him only as a member of the parliament and that the discussion was focused on convening the parliament democratically in the face of the current political situation.

According to MP Sumanthiran, Opposition Leader Sampanthan has said during the discussion that the parliament should be reconvened at the earliest possible as the appointment of the new PM by the President is against the Constitution.

Reportedly, Sampanthan has also called on the support of PM Rajapaksa for reconvening the parliament.

MP Sumanthiran said that TNA parliamentarians have held a discussion regarding the current political situation of the country.

The group of parliamentarians has not reached a decision on supporting a certain political party, however, they have decided to dissent the activities that place contrary to the Constitution and law, according to him.

The final decision of the TNA will be taken as required at the most appropriate time, MP Sumanthiran pointed out.
