The prorogation of parliament has resulted in the dissolution of 10 parliamentary committees including the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) and Committee on Public Accounts (COPA).
The other committees that stand dissolved were ones appointed to deal with curbing crime, losses incurred by the airlines and the Uma Oya multipurpose scheme.
Deputy Secretary General of parliament Neil Iddawela has told the media that drafts for second reading and private member’s motions have also become invalidated and require to be tabled in the House again.
The new sessions of parliament are to commence on May 8.
