Former Minister T.B. Ekanayake has arrived at the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) of Police to give a statement over the alleged misuse of state properties.
The FCID has commenced an investigation into a complaint that former State Minister has misused a vehicle belonging to Central Cultural Fund (CCF) while he was serving as the Minister of Cultural Affairs between 2012 and 2015.
He has been accused of providing a state vehicle for the personal use of a Buddhist monk when he was Cultural Affairs Minister.
The complaint has been lodged by the Organization for the Protection of Central Cultural Fund.
The sixteen MPs who left the government have also arrived at the FCID to show support to the former minister. Police have beefed up security in the area.
