Revamped Iranamadu Reservoir declared open

President Maithripala Sirisena Friday (07) declared opened the renovated Iranamadu Reservoir, in Kilinochchi.

 

The Iranamadu Reservoir restructuring project, the largest reservoir in the province, commenced in 2015. The capacity of reservoir was increased to 120,000 acre feet through the project, and now will be used to supply domestic water to the Jaffna Peninsula as well as to the Kilinochchi town.

 

According to the President’s Media Division farmers of Iranamadu will also receive benefits through the project.

 

Speaking during the inauguration event, President Maithripala Sirisena said the project will strengthen the economy of the people of the North and the country in general.
