President Maithripala Sirisena says a new Committee will be appointed by Monday to compile and submit recommendations to revamp Sri Lankan Airlines.
Speaking at a meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat on the present state of the national carrier the Head of State said the committee will be required to submit its report after two weeks following which the recommendations will be considered and future steps taken accordingly.
The President said by next Monday a committee will be appointed after taking into consideration the challenges highlighted in the report and the many opinions put forward to improve the system, which have also been submitted by trade unions and director boards.
Therefore the President said he requests all relevant opinions be presented in writing to the committee that will be appointed by Monday.
The Head of State said the committee is being appointed in order to consider and compile any and all relevant opinions towards the improvement of the airline and subsequently present recommendations.
President Sirisena said following which if and when the recommendations are to be enacted they will be presented before the Cabinet for approval.
