President Maithripala Sirisena states there are several shortcomings on the part of the Sri Lankan side when signing the Sri Lanka Singapore Free Trade Agreement.
The President had made this remark when he called on the Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong on Friday (Jan 25). The President had stressed the importance of making several key amendments to the FTA. Discussing the threat of drugs which is a main challenge not only to Sri Lanka but also to the entire region, Singapore Prime Minister commended the steps taken under the leadership of President Sirisena against drug trafficking in Sri Lanka and extended the fullest support of the Government of Singapore to the drug eradication programs.
President Sirisena expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Singapore for the support given by his Government for the Sri Lankans who are employed in different professions in various fields in that country and for the welfare of the Sri Lankan students engaged in higher education.
