The Ministry of Petroleum Resource Development has taken steps to call for reports, through district secretaries, on fuel stations that refused to distribute diesel which were stored in their facilities, during the petrol crisis.
According to Mecretary of the ministry, Upali Marasinghe, legal action will be taken against those who refused to sell the stored stocks of diesel.
A fuel crisis transpired on November 3, as the national fuel reserves were depleted of petrol. Long queues were seen at almost every fuel station in the country.

The crisis lasted at least five days until a vessel, named Lady Neverska, carrying stocks of petrol arrived in the country with 40,000 metric tonnes of petrol.
