Sri Lanka state doctors’ union, the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has called off the one-day token strike it launched this morning following discussions with the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.
The state doctors launched the 24-hour token strike Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. demanding the government to resolve ten issues including the abolishing of SAITM. The strike has caused severe inconveniences to patients.
The discussions with the Minister were focused on the ongoing token strike and solutions to meet the 10 demands the GMOA has presented.

The strike was conducted in all government hospitals excluding maternity hospitals, the cancer hospital, the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital, Army Hospitals and the emergency services and Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplant Units.
