Army Commander General Shavendra Silva says interprovincial travel restrictions will be effective from midnight today (11).
This will be in effect until midnight on the 30 May, he added.
Essential services will not be affected and further information will be announced later.
Inter-district travel restrictions may also be imposed if necessary, the Army Commander further said.
