General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), Minister Duminda Dissanayake says hopes of the 6.2 million voters who voted to make a change on January 8, 2015 could not be destroyed.
Dissanayake has made this observation at the swearing-in ceremony held for SLFP members elected to local government bodies in the Anuradhapura district at the local government polls.
The Minister has earlier told the BBC Sinhala Service that President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and others had a duty not to go against that public mandate received three years ago.

People voted against the present regime at the local government polls as it had failed to catch the thieves, Dissanayake has said, adding that the government had a responsibility to do everything possible to prevent the victory of thieves and criminals.
