Lebanon inmates break doors and die in car crash after jail-break

69 prisoners managed to break down their cell doors at the jail near Beirut. 15 were caught, state news agency NNA said. One was returned by his mother.

“A white Dacia car collided with a tree, and it was found that some escaped prisoners were on board after they took it from its driver,” the news agency reported.

The accident took place when six inmates hijacked a car upon escaping the facility in Baabda district.

Authorities have launched an investigation. The security forces have been searching the area, and locals have been warned to be on the alert.
