The number of complaints received by the National Elections Commission regarding the upcoming Local Government Election has increased to 160.
The Complaints Unit stated that out of the total number of complaints received, 154 were regarding the displaying of posters and cutouts. Four complaints regarding acts of violence have been reported.
Twenty one complaints have been reported from the Colombo District. The Election Commission stated that many complaints have been received from the Gampaha and Kurunegala Districts as well.
Meanwhile, police stated that 35 persons have been arrested over election law violations.
