New policy for energy industry before March

Minister of Power, Energy and Housing Development Ravi Karunanayake says a new policy for the energy industry will be introduced before the 1st of March.

Speaking during a discussion at the Ministry Minister Karunanayake pointed out that the power generation over the past three years is insufficient and instructed relevant officials to resort to measures to decrease power generation methods.

The Minister meanwhile noted the Ministry will be committed towards reducing the burden on the public.

Minister Karunanayake stressed the Electricity Board is incurring continuous loses adding steps will be taken to overcome the challenge.

Minister Ravi Karunanayake claimed the government intends on maximising the utilisation of natural resources for power generation.
