A final year student of Ocean University of Colombo had drowned while bathing in the Chilaw beach this afternoon.
Police said the student, who was among a group of 60 people who were on a leisure trip, had drowned and a search operation has been launched to locate her body.
The victim is a 25-year-old and a resident of Rambukkana.
Chilaw Police and Navy are conducting further investigations to find the missing student.
