Sri Lanka’s Petroleum Resources Development Minister Arjuna Ranatunga says that for various reasons several fuel stations were sealed in the last few days but despite any influence steps will be taken to stop the fuel mafia activities in the country, including the mixing of kerosene.
The Minister stated this while participating in a special inspection tour of the Kollonnawa oil facility conducted with the objective of inspecting the operation of the aviation fuel filter system established at Kolonnawa recently.
Minister Ranatunga said the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has increased the number of special raids carried out to prevent the misuse of fuel.
The CPC In the future plans to set up CCTV cameras at every filling station and to inspect the bowsers using GPS technology, the Minister said.
The Minister stressed that he would not allow anyone to plunder the subsidy given to kerosene oil.
The CPC earlier this month banned bulk sales of Lanka kerosene oil since some dealers are mixing kerosene with diesel to gain high profits exploiting the subsidized facility.
