A report compiled by the Special Police Team appointed to investigate the recent incident in Rambukkana reveals that Police used four T-56 weapons and 35 ammos in order to disperse the protestors.
This report was presented to the Kegalle Magistrate’s Court yesterday when the case was taken up again before Kegalle Magistrate Wasana Nawarathne.The Court also recorded the evidence given by six eyewitnesses on the incident yesterday.
Forty-three lawyers appeared on behalf of the victimized party in Court and they pointed out to the Court that the Police had not presented the Court a report by the Government Analyst on this incident.The lawyers also requested the Court that the investigations into the incident carried out under SSP Wasantha Kandawatta be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department.Accordingly, the Magistrate had ordered the Police to call for a report from the Government Analyst yesterday and present it to Court and also said that the ongoing investigations should be conducted in a more effective manner.
