Police say that 223 people and 129 vehicles attempting to enter the Western Province without proper permits were diverted within the past 24 hours.
Police Media Spokesman Nihal Thalduwa stated that inspections at provincial borders have been intensified in accordance with the President’s instructions to strictly enforce provincial travel restrictions.
Accordingly, 13 road blocks have been set up at the Western Provincial Boundary.

The Police Media Spokesman further stated that the Army and the Police will continue to carry out inspections at the roadblocks.
Moreover, the Police yesterday imposed several other mechanisms such as checking number plates at public places and beaches to ensure that the public does not violate the Provincial travel restrictions during the long weekend.
